Overnight family hikes

Kids grow up so fast, make Mum’s and Dad’s weekends special and a time to make memories with your kids.  It can be just Mum and the kids or just Dad and the kids.  We provide all the trek gear and an itinerary to suit the ages and capabilities of the family.  All you need are clothes, boots/shoes, and enthusiasm.  Choose your date and take the family to a fun night around the campfire with creativity, sparkers, marshmallows, chocolate, and laughter. By doing all the planning for you and providing ultralight backpacks and camping gear, you can be assured of having a successful, safe and fun nature experience.

We can provide you with an emergency communication (although we recommend staying within phone reception).

Trek food: we give you a checklist of ideas easily sourced from our local supermarkets.

We select a section of the Bibbulmun Track that suits the age and experience of the participants.

Your family overnight experience includes:

  • adult & child backpacks
  • waterproof inners
  • tent
  • adult trek pole and gaiters
  • adult and child small sleeping bags
  • adult and child thermal mattresses
  • camp stove and gas
  • cooking utensils
  • eating utensils
  • Pre-trek briefings – zoom meeting, face to face to collect trek gear and checklists for trekking gear and ideas on trek food.

Daytime/Walking Clothing

  • Boots or sturdy shoes – worn in and comfortable (at least 2 weeks wear)
  • Socks – pair for each day & to keep the   insects off your feet at night
  • Knickers/jocks – pair for each day
  • Long trousers – loose and lightweight
  • Long-sleeved top, cotton/synthetic, or collared shirt
  • Lightweight jumper (winter and summer)
  • Sun hat (not a baseball cap as it doesn’t protect your neck & ears)
  • Lightweight rain jacket or plastic poncho (to use if it rains heavily)

 

Night change clothes

  • Warm jacket, thermal or polar fleece (winter and summer)
  • Long loose-fitting pants for camp and sleeping
  • Long sleeved loose top or t-shirt
  • Beanie, head sox or scarf, gloves if you feel the cold
  • Camp shoes e.g. lightweight sandals/crocs/thongs

 

Dinner ideas

Asian

  • Rice & Udon noodles
  • Hart & Soul lentil dinners (add peas)
  • Oban sweet potato noodles
  • Ramyun noodles (add boiled egg, tuna, peas)
  • Rice & bean vermicelli noodles
  • Thin Hokkien Noodles
  • Chinese pork sausage
  • Five Tastes shots
  • Doree fried garlic
  • Dried mushrooms with flavouring

 

Indian

  • Hart & Soul lentil curry (add peas)
  • Pataks lentil & veges heat and eat
  • MTR ready-to-eat meals
  • Passage to India vege curries
  • Ashoka ready-to-eat
  • Naan bread can be kept in sealed plastic out of the fridge for a few days. Heat up in frypan.

 

Additions

  • Dehydrated peas
  • Deb dried potatoe (use for energy and to thicken dinner, packets with onion are best)
  • Sachets of tuna/salmon

  • Tandaco one pan dinner

  • Couscous with herbs, nuts, seeds

No hike preparation is necessary as the hike will be structured to fit the age and fitness of the individual participants
