Walpole to Peaceful Bay the best of the Bibbulmun Track

Adult |   4 day trek | Walpole to Peaceful Bay, Bibbulmun Track, Western Australia
19 to 22 October 2020 |  Rated: Moderate

It is the variety of terrain that makes this section of the Bibbulmun Track the favourite of many trekkers. Over the four days you will walk from the still waters of the Walpole Inlet, up to the unique Tingle trees, to the reflections in the Frankland River, across to the Giant Trees and then back to the wild south coast.

Our first day begins beside the still waters of the Walpole Inlet (pictured) then ascends gently inland where you rest at the lookout with panoramic views over the inlet and out to the southern ocean.  You’ve completed the main climb of the whole four days as from here you walk on forestry tracks through giants of trees to a special grove of the unique Tingle trees. These trees exist only in this tiny corner of the world.  For our first night, the Frankland River hut is very special as it not only has the wooden sleeping area but also has a decking floor and this virtually hangs out over the pretty, still, reflective Frankland River.

We walk beside this river through forest to arrive at the Valley of the Giants and the Tree Top walk.  That night we are surrounded by old growth forest. Our third day we descend from the karri, jarrah and marri forest and emerge out to spectacular views over green farmland to the wilds of the southern ocean.  We enter the coast at Conspicuous Beach which has an elevated whale-watching platform with great views over the beach and the bay beyond.  We can take our shoes off and feel the cool waters of the southern ocean and then we walk along the beach to climb up and over a large ridge to our last hut with superb ocean views for sunset and sunrise.

Our last day is only 10km so take your time to explore along the coastal rock formations, enjoy the small shell and rocky beaches until we reach the clear cool beautiful sandy swimming waters of Peaceful Bay.  Lunch can be bought from the Peaceful Bay Cafe and we recommend their fish and chips as you can be assured that the fish was caught in the waters that surround us.
