Teen | 7 Day Trek | Denmark to Walpole | Bibbulmun Track, Western Australia
22 – 29 November 2020
One of the most challenging but also one of the most beautiful sections of the Bibbulmun Track has been chosen for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. From Denmark you slowly climb up Mt Hallowell to enjoy great view, onto to the iconic Monkey rock and Williams Bay. Mazzoletti Beach is a long beach slog until you reach Parry Inlet and onto the pretty Boat Harbour campsite. Swimming is very safe here and there’s lots to explore. Crossing Irwin Inlet is either paddling canoes or if you’re lucky, the sand bank may be in place. A welcome swim at Peaceful Bay, lovely west australian south coastal views are had from Rame Head and then we move inland to the Valley of the Giants, Tingle Trees and the mighty Frankland River. On our last day we descend to the tranquil Walpole Inlet. Suited for Duke of Edinburgh Award
Alternative route: The above trek requires crossing of Irwin Inlet and canoes are provided. But with a group, waiting for each to paddle the inlet in single canoes would make the day (22km) too hard and long. If the sand bar is not in place then we would have to take the alternative itinerary walking instead towards Albany. Walking south is just as stunning. Green Pool at William Bay National Park and the wind turbines and fabulous views from the cliff tops and arrive at the Southern Terminus of the Bibbulmun Track in Albany.
