Teen Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Trek

Teen | 7 Day Trek | Cape to Cape Track or Bibbulmun Track, Western Australia

2-8 October 2020 Duke of Edinburgh Award

$750 per person

We are giving you a choice – A coastal 7 day 135 km adventure on the Cape to Cape or a more gentle 7 day 70.9 km exploration on the Bibbulmun Track.

The Cape to Cape walk trail traverses 135km along the ridge and beaches of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park following the coast to end point Cape Leeuwin. The walk takes in amazing views of sea and landscapes, wildflowers and the stunning Indian Ocean. The trail explores the coastal region’s natural secrets, deserted white beaches, ancient granite boulders, limestone cliffs and secluded swimming spots.   Superb ocean panoramas every day, sunsets over the ocean. Three nights we camp at delightful little campsites tucked away under the shelter of trees but also you have the luxury of passing through settlements where you can enjoy a choice of accommodation and fresh food and drinks. Please note that the dates shown do not include travel to and from Perth.

The Bibbulmun Track is a multi day exploration trek close to Perth that averages 10-12 kms per day giving lots of time to build the campfire each afternoon, relax and keep warm. Our first day is pretty flat and Mt Dale Hut is set in a pretty forest position looking out onto Mt Dale. The next day we climb up onto the Darling Scarp to our destination Beraking campsite with great views over the Perth plains. Following the scarp we arrive at Waaleigh campsite with more views. Waaleigh has just had a renovation and is in a gorgeous setting. Helena Hut is our next night and to get there we have to walk down to the Helena River and back up again onto the Darling Scarp for views from the new rammed earth Helena Hut. From there the track winds up and down to arrive at Ball Creek the destination for our 7 day trek. Next day as you arrive at the Mundaring Weir early morning when its still and beautiful. We cross the weir on the wall and climb up again on the otherside to the lookout over the Helena Valley, from there it is a short walk to our last hut, Hewitts, sitting pretty amongst its granite outcrops. The final day starts easy then runs down to the Piesse Brook and up the other side following a pretty little stream to arrive at the Northern Terminus of the Bibbulmun Track. There is phone coverage for most of the track and this trek is suitable for the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
