A 3-day trek for teens that includes learning camping skills and navigation at night and day.

Day one:  Discovery Centre carpark to Ball Creek campsite (2.5km)  we will be going over the skills of setting up camp, learning a few basic knots to use and safety skills required for camp cooking. To add to the practice, you will be learning night navigation by completing a circuit walk 2-3km from the campsite.

Day two: Ball Creek campsite to Helena campsite (9km)  Our second day is quite challenging as we will be hiking through Manns Valley and our lunch stop will be at a lovely pool where you can cool off the feet.  We then ascend up the Darling Scarp to the rammed earth hut Helena with views over the valley.

Day three:  Helena to Discovery Centre carpark (off track).  Today we have a challenge to take a shortcut “using GPS, map and compass off track”  and start by descending down a steep slope to the Helena River and studying map we have to find our way back up onto the Darling Scarp and onto the Bibbulmun Track again and hopefully arrive back at the Discovery Centre car park by 4pm.

Camping with either a tent or sleeping cocoon and tarp.

$250 per person
