Join us on our family day hike adventure at Lesmurdie Falls, the largest and most spectacular of all the waterfalls on the Darling Scarp and it is only 30 minutes from Perth city. The falls are super impressive from both the bottom and the top especially after heavy rains but even if there is only a trickle and it’s a warm dry day (as our photo shows when we were there early June) it is still a lovely walking experience.
Our family day hike starts at Lesmurdie Brook so that we can meander, getting our hiking legs ready to descend down the valley. We stop to take in the many waterfall views, walk into the base of the falls, and then out again around the other side of the valley. The red granite of the valley is reminiscent of the Kalbarri and Kimberley rock formations and you get panoramic views over the Perth Coastal Plain. We finish back on Upper Lesmurdie Brook to enjoy a well earned morning tea.
