April in the Perth Hills can still be dry and very warm, water tanks low so we offer an alternative trek for the April school holidays following the public Easter break.
Peaceful Bay to Walpole is seen as one of the best sections of the Bibbulmun Track. To ensure cool walking conditions, we walk the exposed coastal areas early morning. We start at Peaceful Bay and walk up the coast to ascend to our campsite with views of the Southern Ocean. We then head inland to arrive in the Valley of the Giants and the famous Treetop Walk. Frankland River campsite is a highlight with its restful rocks and reflective waters. Following the river, we descend to Walpole (flushing toilets and showers!!) next day we trek to climb gently up to Mt Clare and finish at Deep River and the carpark for the Nuyts Wilderness.
The first two days are the practice where the participants learn the necessary camping and trekking skills. The next three days are their qualifying days.
Small group only, 2 guides, each walking day is about 3-4 hours and we stop every hour for a break. We stay at Bibbulum Track campsites and in Walpole either YHA hostel or caravan park.
Walpole is 346km from Perth, approximately 5 hours drive. TransWA (train to Bunbury and immediate transfer to bus to Walpole) is available.
